Free Childcare Funding

2 Year Old Funding - Eligible 2 Year Old

The 2 year old offer is up to 15 hours of funded childcare per week over 38 weeks of the year.

Child turns 2 between; Eligible from;
1st January – 31st March April * funding commences at the start of the Summer Term
1st April – 31st August September * funding commences at the start of the Autumn Term
1st September – 31st December January * funding commences at the start of the Spring term
 

 

Free Entitlement – All 3 & 4 Year Olds

The Free Entitlement (previously Nursery Education Funding) allows 3 and 4 year old children to access up to 15 hours of funded early education and childcare with a nursery, preschool or child-minder that is registered to offer funded places.

The term after your child’s third birthday you may also be eligible for Early Years Pupil Premium. This is additional funding that is paid to your childcare provider to ensure they provide the best outcomes for your child. Find out more here.

Child turns 3 between; Eligible from;
1st January – 31st March April * funding commences at the start of the Summer Term
1st April – 31st August September * funding commences at the start of the Autumn Term
1st September – 31st December January * funding commences at the start of the Spring term
 

 

30 Hours – Eligible 3 & 4 Year Olds

You can apply for when your child is 2 years and 36 weeks old (9 months). You will need to have your details (and your partner’s, if you have one) including your National Insurance number or Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR), if you’re self-employed to hand when applying. You’ll find out if you’re eligible as part of your application.

The funding starts either the term AFTER your child turns 3 OR the term after you apply, whichever is later.
